Lavender Love

I noticed a huge lavender bush while I was out walking the other day. Quite a lot of it was hanging over the footpath, so I was tempted to go back and pick some. I like to make my own pot pourri to help keep my wool safe and to sweeten the house in general. A basket full often also finds its way onto my market stall.

Instead of creeping up in the dead of night, I knocked on the door and asked if I could pick some lavender. "Help yourself!" was the response. "Take as much as you like." I took them at their word.
Would you believe I now have ten bunches like this hanging from my ceiling rack. And the bush is still covered in flowers. What's more, I know that cutting it back at this time of year will only result in more blooms in the coming weeks. I don't think I'll have to worry about having enough lavender for a while.

Colour Cooincidence

I found this little collection on my table this morning:
Okay, so it wasn't arranged just like that. The garlic bulb is still waiting for me to have a go at a colour sketch. The lavender sprig I picked up on my walk yesterday afternoon--I took advantage of a rare sunny afternoon to take the dogs out. And the bobbin of wool is some spinning: hand dyed merino in various textures which I was experimenting with last night.

Three

One more day of walking to tick off! The dogs are now at the stage of anticipating their outing and looking out for any clues that I might be about to put on my walking shoes. They are so good for my motivation. How could I refuse those joyous woofs and wagging tails!
As for take-home beauty, I picked this sprig of lavender:

I must say, it didn't look like anything special until I got it home and subjected it to the macro treatment. I'm testing the limits of the macro lens--and so far, I'm pretty happy.

No walk today. I'm off to the Wool Show at Bendigo. I need to walk out of the house before 7 am. I'm rarely out of my bedroom by 7 am these days, so it's a bit of an effort, but it should be a great day.

Note to self: I don't need any more fleeces! Oooh, well, . . . maybe just one?
